Pros

- Huge market opportunity ahead being in a market leading position backed by the most reputable partners and investors in the financial services industry - Lot of new positions being created offers plenty of career opportunities - Supportive and open culture with friendly colleagues and your contribution being appreciated - Well aligned, everyone wants iCapital to be a success story - Testing new ideas and openness to learn from (individual) mistakes - Nice perks incl. valuable stock options package

Cons

- As the company is growing rapidly, processes are not formalized yet - While aiming to develop into a global company, still very US-centric - Challenging environment requiring everyone to go the extra mile; not a place if you look for a relaxed 9-5 job

Pros

iCapital has built an incredible business as one of the key components connecting asset and wealth managers around the world. There is certainly a 'client first' mentality, and the team is tremendously welcoming. As a growing firm globally, there appears to be a great commitment to the culture.

Cons

No cons, but the business model is quite complex. Requires a desire to learn (in a good way), but need to be a self-motivator.

Pros

nice office, free bananas and cool t-shirts.

Cons

Here's icapital in a nutshell - A couple old senior partners, lots of young employees and nothing(micro managers) in between. No opportunity to move up and they can’t get people to stay, and there's no lateral mobility. This place works young folks for as long as they can, and the young folks leave once they figure out the company sucks (don't have to believe me. just reach out to ex employees on linkedin and verify for yourself). - their hiring process is so unique that they hire young people because anyone established in the industry would reject them - (highly dysfunctional environment and fear driven culture) - incompetent managers that will occasionally leave you in the dark, depending on the circumstance. - they hire young because the pay is crap. - they hire young because they assume young folks won't know any better. - tech leadership is just TERRIBLE (because they don't know any better) - they micromanage employees and fire employees at random. If you still end up deciding to work for icapital then ask them about: 1) what’s the annualized value of your equity in the event of a high/med/low outcome? You'll realize that the stock options are worth pennies for the work you'll be doing. Nowhere near SV startup compensation. 2) what’s the spread between the 409a valuation and the preferred PPS at the last valuation? 409a signals your tax obligation. PPS is closer to what the market will likely pay. Their delta tells you profit and taxes.
