For International Men's Day, we spoke to Mik, a Selector about being open and there for one another. “For International Men’s Day I’d like to talk about mental health, the importance of positive habits, and that it’s okay not to be okay” Mik told us. Sharing his story, he explained how he struggled with depression and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder growing up. There were many small steps Mik took that turned into major results over the years, from looking at his nutrition, sleep, exercise and finding hobbies which he felt gave him a purpose and direction, one of them being BMX. Mik is now the 2023 Polish BMX Champion and a professional rider representing Poland - what an achievement. 👏 His biggest piece of advice is letting the people around you know that you are there for them. Having someone to lean on or just talk to can be life changing for an individual who is struggling. At Aldi, we are proud to provide our colleagues with a range of services to support their mental health, including our partnership with Retail trust, which provides all our colleagues access to free therapy to support them through life events.
We wanted to wish a huge HAPPY TEN YEAR ALDIVERSARY to our Learning and Development Director - Lisa! 🥳 In the decade that Lisa has been a part of #TeamAldi, she has had quite the journey. From joining in 2013 as an Administration Assistant, being promoted after two and a half years to HR Manager and then moving up to HR Director, she has gone from strength to strength working in our Learning and Development team. When speaking to Lisa about some of her amazing memories over the years, she told us how “We started as a very small team of 4 ten years ago and we have evolved into the department we are now. I have seen the business change in so many different ways and I am so proud to work alongside such fantastic colleagues that work incredibly hard to support the business in all areas of the employee lifecycle”.
