Meet Store Manager Chris! Chris worked for 15 years in fashion & hospitality management before he decided to join #TeamAldi. He always loved and thrived off the fast-paced nature of retail, working with people and taking on new opportunities… so life at Aldi was right up his street. Chris’ favourite part of his management role is the responsibilities. “I have been trusted throughout my Aldi journey to make the best decisions for my Store, my team and my customers. I feel heard and supported and that enables me to create a happy and supported environment", Chris told us. “The main skills required to work in an Aldi store would have to be positivity and adaptability”, Chris expressed, having a positive attitude will encourage you to work at your best”. We love Chris’ enthusiasm for his role, and the great news is we are on the lookout for more passionate hardworking people just like him.
Our Leaders often share their own wellbeing experiences to create a culture where colleagues can have open and honest conversations about their own situations. Sophie, one of our HR Directors, shared her story with #TeamAldi, including one of the tools she learned about through our trusted partnerships with the Retail Trust and Mental Health UK. “I've learnt about the stress bucket concept and found it really easy to identify with. Life naturally throws things our way in the form of rain clouds, some of which are completely out of our control, and it may feel like the bucket is getting too full. But what we can control more of is how we empty the bucket of the rain.” “In the past, I have definitely been guilty of not focusing enough on my mental wellbeing when the going gets tough. I now try to incorporate simple strategies that help me ‘empty my stress bucket’” Thank you Sophie for sharing your story!
To celebrate #BuyBritishDay back in October, we spoke to one of our lovely Supply Chain colleagues, Alex, who plays a vital role in ensuring British produce lands on our shelves. Alex joined #TeamAldi in 2018 as a Category Planning Assistant and manages produce availability ensuring what we order makes it to our Stores. Alex told us that day-to-day her role involves communicating with a range of stakeholders, and she highlights how her favourite part is “getting involved with our growers, who work hard to deliver the best products available”. Over the past couple of years, Alex has had the opportunity to work with many British suppliers, from small, family run farms to larger businesses supplying UK-grown asparagus, lettuces, strawberries and more! If you want to be part of the amazing team of people who ensure the nation have access to British grown goods you’re in luck, our Supply Chain department is hiring today!
