Pennies from Heaven invites Aldi colleagues to turn their small change into big change, as they can opt in to donate the pennies from their payslip to our chosen charity Teenage Cancer Trust, and they take home the full rounded amount. The awards recognise employers who run the scheme exceptionally well, with the Gold Award being presented to companies who have a 20%+ participation rate. This ranking is extra special for us as it is based entirely off reviews from our Placement Students, and we love nothing more than hearing from our colleagues about how much they enjoy their career. For International Women’s Day, we wanted to shine a light on Roisin. Roisin is just one of our amazingly ambitious women in leadership and works as a HR Director managing all things related to legal and compliance, from employee contracts to safety in store. After joining #TeamAldi on our Area Manager Programme back in 2015, Roisin discovered a passion for HR and people as she describes how ‘they are the real heart of Aldi’s business’. Fast-forward 7 years and Roisin is the first female to take responsibility for Health, Safety and Insurance in the GB business! We’re really proud to share that today, Roisin will be appearing on the panel of an International Women’s Day webinar hosted by Bright Network. She’ll be discussing gender equality, workplace diversity and advice for females starting their careers. Thank you to Roisin for being an inspiring leader to all of #TeamAldi and having the confidence to speak out about these topics and thank you to all of the wonderful women who make Everyday Amazing here at Aldi.

Being a student can be difficult, as you try to balance work, studies and a social life! Your education is as important to us as it is to you! Take Josh for example... Josh joined #TeamAldi in 2017 as a Deputy Store Manager, and quickly proved that he loved a challenge, taking on the responsiblity of training new Store Assistants in his team within his first year. Whilst working as a Deputy Store Manager, Josh also began his Buisness Managameent Degree and explained how his Store Manager was very understanding, giving him the option to work reduced hours during exam times if he needed too. And in the holidays he was also offered the opportunity to work full time hours, which Josh explained gave him greater financial security throughout the year. By the time his final year came around, and after completing his Retail Management Placement with us, Josh was thriving at work and university, transforming Store Assistants into Deputy Managers alongside his coursework. Now an Area Manager, he smashed his studies and got a head start in his career thanks to being able to work flexibly.
