We recently open our first two stores of the year in Frome and Livingston. Welcome to both of the teams! The store offers customers a wide range of home improvement products, including paint and paint mixing, decorating tools, power tools, décor and lighting, houseplants, hardware and electrical and plumbing products, as well as access to the full B&Q range of over 40,000 products to order for home delivery or Click and Collect.
Working with our charity partner Shelter, we have launched our 'Break the Mould' campaign. Together we are highlighting the dangers of mould in the home and how to get rid of it. Designer and presenter Whinnie Williams explains what you can do tackle mould in your own home. As part of this campaign, B&Q and its suppliers will also be donating mould busting kits, complete with HG Mould Spray, Unibond Aero 360, Unibond ReNEW Sealant and Dulux Mould Shield paint, to help Shelter continue its important work at eight Shelter hubs across the country. #BreakTheMould #TogetherWeCan
Last week, on behalf of B&Q, our People Director Andy Moat proudly accepted our Silver award as part of the MOD's Employer Recognition Scheme. The ceremony was attended by local employers, serving members of the armed forces and local Reservists, and held on HMS King Alfred in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Andy shared his thoughts about the event: "It was really quite humbling to receive this award, meet the serving members of our forces and reservists, listen to their experiences and hear how much the Armed Forces Covenant means to them. At B&Q we’re launching our new Armed Forces Colleague Network soon, so we’re excited to start doing more to support our forces communities and colleagues.” Huge thanks to all our B&Q armed-forces veterans, Reservists, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers, and forces families. We couldn't have achieved this without you! Find out more about the Armed Forces Covenant and Employer Recognition Scheme https://lnkd.in/d2RXu_4 #SilverERS21
A huge congratulations to our colleague Luke as he starts his new adventure studying abroad in France, whilst transferring to our Castorama store to continue working under the Kingfisher banner. Luke started at B&Q in our Belfast store in 2019 and transferred to our Liverpool store shortly after to start University. Luke said: “At University I study French and Spanish, and this year is my placement where I spend half the year working in France. I spoke to my team at B&Q about the potential of working abroad whilst staying within Kingfisher and then reached out to the relevant teams within HR to point me in the right direction. Thankfully after my interview, I was offered the job at Castorama in Lyon! I can’t thank everyone who supported me through this process enough. I could be here all day mentioning names, but I want to say a special thank you to Andy Moat, Russell Parsons, and of course Caroline Cooper.” We're so excited to see where this journey takes you, Luke! 🌟 #TogetherWeCan

The B&Q Foundation distributes grants to registered charities in the UK to help create better, safer places for the people in our communities who need them the most. So far, the B&Q Foundation has put its efforts behind 190 causes, from building safe spaces for kids to play in deprived areas, to providing residential support for people with no home of their own – helping to make a difference to those who don’t have access to what most of us take for granted. The B&Q Foundation wouldn’t be what it is without our dedicated colleagues, who work together to fundraise and make a difference in their local communities. #TogetherWeCan
