This year marks 10 years of partnership between Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. During this time, Boots and Macmillan have worked together to help people living with cancer access the best cancer information and support from within their local community, through our Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists and Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors. We have over 2,000* Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists trained to offer advice on living with cancer and over 800* Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors offering support with managing the visible side effects. In addition to this, our colleagues and customers have also raised over £16 million to support Macmillan’s life-changing services. The time has come to look back over what has been a fantastic year and celebrate some of our highlights of 2018... It's been a year of anniversaries as our Support Office celebrated 50 years and some of our oldest stores reached landmark years. The 'Beast from the East' came and tested us but our colleagues went to extraordinary lengths to put our patients first. We've had some famous faces visit our stores - who could forget when the one and only Will Smith stopped by! Our colleagues and customers raised incredible amounts for our charity partners whilst having a lot of fun at the same time. Last week BBC Children in Need announced that they were celebrating an incredible year for 2017, where over £60.7million was raised to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. In contribution towards this total, we are delighted to share that our customers and colleagues have also celebrated their best-ever year of fundraising, by raising an incredible £1.559million for the charity. Last month, we were delighted to host a special event to celebrate our longest serving colleagues, who have become members of our 50 Year Club. The eight new members along with their guests were invited to Nottingham for a tour of our Beeston site followed by an evening at the historic Boot family home to celebrate the new members of the club as well as recognising the continued commitment of its founding members. The club, now in its second year, has a total of 28 members from across the UK, ranging from pharmacy technicians to customer assistants and store managers.
