We’re celebrating winning a hat trick at the UK’s leading apprenticeship awards. Our apprentices voted us one of the top employers in the country – and two of our current students won individual awards for their outstanding achievements. At last night’s Rate My Apprenticeship Awards ceremony in London, Heathrow Operations Agent Shannon Mitchell won the Outstanding Intermediate Apprentice (Level 2) award. And T3 Lead Customer Service Representative Abigail Roberts scooped the Outstanding Advanced Apprentice (Level 3) gong. This is the first year we have been involved in the awards, and we also triumphed in the Employer Awards category. Based entirely on our students’ ratings of their experiences with us, we won a place in the top 100, entering the table at number 58. The Employer Awards recognise and reward excellence amongst employers who offer apprenticeships and school leaver opportunities across the UK.
We're delighted that customers have voted British Airways staff as the best in Europe at the Skytrax 2019 World Airline Awards. The award recognises our staff for their friendliness and efficiency, highlighting the consistent excellent service delivered by airport and on-board customer service teams. Alex Cruz, Chairman and CEO of British Airways, said: “Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re delighted that the hard work and dedication of our colleagues has been recognised with this award. We know that our colleagues make us who we are as an airline, and in our centenary year, we’re incredibly proud of this achievement.” Read the stories behind some our frontline staff: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMESL

We recently were honoured to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to our headquarters to mark our centenary - a landmark in aviation. During the visit, Her Majesty was introduced to colleagues in heritage uniforms and those who are involved in Flying Start, our charity partnership with Comic Relief. During a tour of our Heritage Centre, The Queen was also shown artefacts and memorabilia relating to her many historic journeys with us throughout her reign. To conclude the special visit, Her Majesty unveiled a special commemorative plaque in front of more than 1500 colleagues and staff, and was presented with a model of the first aircraft she crossed the Atlantic on – a Boeing Stratocruiser.
