On June 23rd, we celebrated International Women in Engineering Day, we recognized Gabby and Layla, our apprentice engineers at our Barrow facility in the UK. With support from leadership and team members, Gabby and Layla will gain valuable, hands-on engineering experience during their four-year apprenticeship, making them a great contribution to the team. Graham, the Barrow facility's Site Director commented on the importance of an inclusive workplace, "A key element is to grow our own talent, which is why it is important we continue to recruit females to technical roles and especially our apprentice program. Promoting inclusion and diversity is key to the success of Kimberly-Clark by ensuring we have the correct diversity of thought, innovation and decision-making to reflect our consumers."
This past Saturday, we commemorated Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans were notified of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The quest for equality continues and remains our shared goal and can be achieved by when we unify as allies and advocates. This week, thousands of our employees from more than 30 countries will come together and embark on a quest to experience our second Global Inclusion Week. Participating in interactive workshops, we will highlight our global inclusion efforts around the globe, and spark action around how we can ensure inclusion is a reality for our colleagues, consumers and communities.
