Since the launch of our Feed It Back initiative in August 2017, as a business we’re proud to have successfully donated an incredible six million meals to over 2,400 local causes! Feed It Back is our food surplus redistribution programme which connects all our stores across England, Scotland and Wales, to good causes in their local community. This includes local charities, food banks, community cafes and soup kitchens, who put our quality surplus to good use every day. We’re standing with Channel 4 and major UK supermarkets against racism. The launch of our 2020 animated Christmas ad has been extremely well received by members of the public. Unfortunately, in contrast, Sainsbury’s festive ad didn’t receive the same reaction, with some people posting offensive and racist comments on social media. Channel 4 has called UK retailers to stand together, and alongside Sainsbury’s, we’re going to be doing exactly that, in an unprecedented show of unity across two entire prime time ad breaks this Friday evening (27th November), during the popular show - Bake Off: An Extra Slice. Under one message #StandAgainstRacism, Christmas adverts from retailers will be airing one after the other – something all supermarkets would usually actively avoid. At Lidl we strongly support diversity, and do not tolerate racism of any kind. #weareLidl
