It's a bold statement, but one we can back up. Our ‘Force for Good’ sustainability programme focuses on enabling people to live and work well whilst having a positive impact on the world around us.
💜 Thank you. It’s been said a lot over the past 18 months, but this one goes out to the Number 1 team in the #Hospitality industry, responsible for helping stand our business back up in challenging circumstances! So, in recognition of the heroic efforts of our teams, we announced a pay increase for our hourly-paid team members. The memory makers, guest wow-ers, meal creators and most importantly the heart and soul of our business. Pay increases will differ by role and department, with minimum pay rates set to increase by over 5%, and 30,000 of our people eligible for the rise. All our roles will now pay above the National Minimum Wage, and above the National Living Wage. 🗣️ Our CEO Alison Brittain said: “A huge thank you from me for everything you all do. I’m continually impressed by your commitment, camaraderie, and care for one another and what we stand for. Whatever comes our way, whatever challenges we face, and whatever success we gain – we make it together. That’s why you are at the heart of our business, and that’s why together, we are a winning team.”
Leaving school and entering the world of work for the first time is one of the biggest moments in someone’s life. And we want to help them make the right decision. We’re firm believers in #apprenticeships. Not just for the structure, the training and the rewards that they can simultaneously offer. But for the softer skills you also get back. The people skills, the confidence, the motivation. And that’s really what our apprenticeships look to offer. Great opportunities, great nationally-recognised qualifications, great pay and great prospects. All in an environment that brings out the best in people – both professionally and personally. Richard Brooks Harley, our Apprenticeships Delivery Manager, outlines another way to continue your development in hospitality, and a career less ordinary…
This summer, we’ve got a whole range of opportunities available in our hotels and restaurants, and, what’s more, they can fit around you and your life. For Mum and Deputy Hotel Manager Apryl, working at Premier Inn has been something she’s been able to flex up and down as life, motherhood and everything in between took priority. “For anyone looking to get back into work, I’d say come here and see it for yourself. If you’re worried about the time away from your family at key times – we have shifts to suit everyone. If you’re worried about working with new people – we are made up of lots of different people including other mums and dads and we will become your second family! If you’re thinking you lack the skills – we will train you. So come into your Premier Inn and let’s chat.” Read Apryl’s story here:
We’re delighted to announce we broke into the top ten apprenticeship employers list at the annual Rate My Apprenticeship Awards yesterday! We’ve also been recognised regionally, with two accolades in the East of England and the North West. This result puts us ahead of our overall position last year, where we were rated 11th out of all UK apprenticeship providers. Richard Brooks Harley, Apprenticeships Delivery Manager said: “It’s fantastic to see us achieve 9th position on the apprenticeship employers list and to be recognised in two regional awards. Huge thanks to all our apprentices who have taken time to review their apprenticeship and to our provider Lifetime for all their support and innovation over what’s been a challenging year for everyone.” Now in its seventh year, the Rate My Apprenticeship Awards bring together apprentices, schools, employers, and training providers to celebrate incredible achievements in the apprenticeship market. Our most northerly Premier Inn opened in #Thurso in the Scottish Highlands last week. The 85-bedroom hotel, which is our fourth new hotel to open in Scotland this year, is well-timed for a busy summer of staycations and adventure tourism in the UK, and has created 35 permanent new jobs. Located in the heart of Thurso, the town made famous by the North Coast 500 scenic route is one of the rare locations in the UK where you can actually see the Northern Lights on a clear, winter's night! Regional Operations Manager Tim Gibson was there for the grand opening and, a week on, said: “Our first week in the bag and it has been excellent. The team are fantastic and the hotel is fabulous – Thurso is such friendly place and we have been warmly welcomed by the community since opening our doors. “Interestingly, we also expect to see some very exotic cars parked up as we are on the NC500 route. So here’s to our most northerly Premier Inn, we wish our guests many happy stays and that our team – lead by Hotel Manager Dan MacLennan - grow and prosper.”
Join us this summer and get an extra week's pay 😎 We're proud to play our part in helping people get back together with loved ones over the holidays, and there is no more important role than the one our Team Members play in our hotels and restaurants. So we’re giving all of our hourly-paid team a bonus to say thank you, and doubling our recognition programme to show how much we appreciate every warm smile and speedy check in, every spotless comfy bedroom and every delicious breakfast. What’s more, this applies to our newest Team Members too – so if you, or someone you know is looking to spend a summer making special memories for our guests, with award-winning training and even more fantastic perks, point them in our direction!

We announced our first quarter results, which covers March to May 2021. The highlight was being able to fully re-open most of our UK hotels and restaurants from May 17th but as you can see, we continued to trade well-ahead of the UK market, expand in Germany and make further investments to strengthen our future. Our Chief Executive, Alison Brittain, said: "We hold a uniquely advantaged position in the UK, built on our scale, operating model, fabulous teams and our much-loved brands. "Our market leading position in a fast-recovering budget sector, broad customer appeal, and our ability to invest, means we are well-positioned to continue our strong performance. "In Germany, we also remain confident in our ability to replicate our success in the UK, and at every step of the way, we will be a Force for Good."
