Designed to familiarise cabin crew and flight deck personnel with the effects of hypoxia, the Hypobaric Chamber at the Flight Physiological Centre consists of two chambers and a large vacuum tank. This facility can be used to recreate loss of cabin pressure or prolonged exposure to high altitudes and reduced oxygen. It also includes a flexible data acquisition system, which enables effective analysis of data. The Banshee Aerial Target has been operated within the the Norwegian Forces for over 30 years, and in September this year, QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) were invited to the 50th Anniversary of the Norwegian Target Service. Our colleagues at QTS were pleased to meet with past and present members of the Norwegian Target Service and share anecdotes of their experiences working with the Banshee. Year 8 girls in England and Wales, S2 in Scotland and Year 9 in Northern Ireland will team up to take on challenges, from cryptography and logic to artificial intelligence and networking, to win great prizes and be crowned Regional girls’ competition champions. Earlier this month QinetiQ Target Systems conducted its first customer training event with the Robonic Kontio Launcher. Having qualified with Robonic to deliver this course, our team at Ashford welcomed customers from Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH INC) and a colleague from UK QinetiQ Combined Aerial Target Service to obtain the required equipment training. All attendees successfully completed the course and we are pleased to have received fantastic feedback from all involved. We are looking forward to conducting our next customer training event with the Robonic Kontio Launcher in Spring 2024.
