This May at Softcat, we're embracing Mental Health Awareness Month and championing this year's theme of 'Moving More for Mental Health'🏃. Being active can help calm anxiety, lift our mood, and boost our confidence — that's why this week we've been encouraging employees to get moving and get their steps in! We've also hosted interactive sessions with our Mental Health First Aiders, asked colleagues to share their experiences with movement and mental health, and encouraged everyone to wear a splash of green to show support and raise awareness💚. 🎤Our Leeds office hosted Olympian Nile Wilson for a Q&A on his personal experiences with mental health.
To mark the Hindu festival of colours, symbolising the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil, our EC network organised a host of celebrations that have been taking place across the business. From delicious curry lunches to vibrant decorations and traditional Indian sweets, our offices have been buzzing with the spirit of Holi all week! Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our charity partner – together as one. Your contributions make a real difference! 💜
This week, Softcat’s EDN network has celebrated one of its flagship annual events, Neurodiversity Celebration Week (NCW). NCW represents a global initiative dedicated to challenging stereotypes related to neurological differences, to empower organisations to provide an equitable experience for their neurodivergent employees. At the heart of the EDN network's mission is the celebration of our differences - a focus that has been brought to life across the Softcat offices throughout this week. We were delighted to welcome ADHD and autistic creator, writer and consultant Ellie Middleton to speak with our teams about her personal experiences of a late diagnosis and next week we’ll be hearing from neuro-inclusivity expert Jess Meredith who will be speaking about neurodivergence within children, and how best to support them. Reflecting on the company-wide discussions that have taken place over the past few days, including a panel event where Softcat employees shared their own experiences of being neurodivergent and the strengths that it brings, it is evident that our joint efforts are key to further building the culture of inclusivity and appreciation for neurodiversity at Softcat, that we as a business hold in such high regard. Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their own stories, and contributed to a brilliant week of dialogue, celebrating the unique strengths that neurodiversity brings to Softcat - Your engagement and insights have been invaluable.
