Say hello to Richard Anderson (and Buckley his dog), corporate reputation manager, who works across Which? to minimise reputational risks and help maximise reputational opportunities. He says: ‘I’m lucky to deal with so many different people and departments across the organisation every day. As potential reputational issues can arise virtually anywhere, I liaise with a wide range of areas – some very regularly, some less so, but it all adds to the variety and the need to get to grips with a broad array of topics. I like the nature of my role, in batting away many tricky issues that can suddenly pop up.’
We caught up with senior researcher/writer Ellie Simmonds, who talks about her experience within the Investigative Research team. The team are rigorous in their efforts to get to the bottom of various consumer issues. Their extensive research and investigations continuously question the way things are and explore different issues that really matter to consumers. Find out more about the work Ellie does ⬇️
Meet Rhianna Mclean, who is our external affairs business apprentice. Rhianna joined Which? earlier in the year. Rhianna is benefiting from being an apprentice and says: ‘From the first few months I have been here, I have already learnt so much and developed so many new skills. Prior to starting I didn't know anything about the processes behind releasing content to the press or publishing a magazine. I am continuously learning new skills.’ To find out more about our current apprentice vacancies, please visit our careers site: jobs.which.co.uk
We're delighted to welcome Clive Mosey, our new CFO. Clive joins us from Viapath Group LLP as an experienced CFO, bringing particular expertise in working in organisations with complex governance structures. ‘I am excited to be joining Which? as it continues to implement its strategy to even further enhance its position as the consumer champion for all. The importance of providing a voice for consumers has been tested as never before by the pandemic and I look forward to playing my part in supporting this vital role.’
Chiara Cavaglieri, senior researcher/writer and the Travel Content team scooped this year’s Martyn Hocking Award. This internal award commemorates the former Which? editor who championed journalism that makes a difference. Martyn was the editor of Which? magazine from 2008 to 2012. Chiara was praised for 'single-mindedness when it comes to uncovering problems and in pushing for change, but most of all in representing people who feel their voices are not being heard.’ Rory Boland, Naomi Leach, Guy Hobbs, Jo Rhodes, Trevor Baker, Ben Slater and Lauren Bell were praised for ‘working around the clock to cover every aspect of an area of consumer life that has been turned upside down by the pandemic. From updating consumers about the latest changes to rules and guidance to scouring terms and conditions and exposing a wealth of shoddy and misleading practices - evidence that has influenced regulators to take action on behalf of consumers.’
Say hello to Emmanuel Nestere. Emmanuel joined Which? as an apprentice in the People team earlier in the year and is really enjoying his apprenticeship in an area he had no previous experience in. Emmanuel says: ‘My apprenticeship has enabled me to develop my skills in data and analytics. Understanding the metrics side of my work includes recruitment, engagement and retention, and employee value and performance. The support I have received from colleagues has been terrific!’ ‘Which? is a values-led organisation, and my favourite Which? value is ‘We’re brave’. In today's society, it's so important to ask difficult questions and speak up for what we believe is right. Only then can we impact real change.’

Meet Fatima Bello, who joined Which? in 2018 as a legal sales and service team manager and has recently joined our policy team as a policy adviser in financial services. Fatima originally studied law, so this is a totally different career path. She says: ‘In my role as a policy adviser you get to pre-empt problems at the start of a customer journey. I’m currently working on ‘buy now, pay later’ – a lot of firms are unregulated, but the FCA and Treasury have agreed they need to be – and developing Which’s policy position for the regulation.’
