Application
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AbbVie (Lake Forest, IL) in Aug 2014
Interview
I initially had a 20min phone interview with the hiring manager - she asked me questions about my experience and why I wanted to work in that specific therapeutic area. After that, I went for an onsite interview at Abbvie. No technical questions at all, but it was a day full of behavioral questions. There were two panel interviews (4 people at each panel) and about another four individual interviews (including one with the HR). The questions became very repetitive after a while. The entire onsite interview took about 4 hours. After two weeks, I heard back from the HR and they ultimately went with another candidate.
I talked to a recruiter first who then set up a phone screen with a company manager and then an interview with a person responsible for making a final decision. The questions were very thorough about my work and my careers plans. There were a lot of questions that I felt I handled well, and some that I handled with less confidence. Closer to the end of the third interview (the most thorough one) I started feeling that the person was getting inpatient with me because they had a certain idea of what they wanted to hear and I wasn't saying it exactly how they wanted. I don't feel I handled it too bad but I already knew they weren't planning to hire me. Keeping on looking.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AbbVie (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2018
Interview
It was a day-long affair, after a phone interview. Several people at different levels interviewed me. They used the standard format that involves asking one to relate past experiences that illustrate different traits. It was generally amicable. They seemed to be surprisingly innocent of the state of the industry outside their own offices, though.

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at AbbVie (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2017
Interview
Went through a recruiting agency. Initial phone screen (30 min) was pleasant and informal. Then was invited to a full day on-site interview (6 hrs) with the team. Met with managers, senior managers, and directors. The interview consisted of in-person meetings as well as meetings over webex.
