I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG

      Interview

TLDR: They value cheap labor and hire unqualified individuals. I applied for a role for which I met all of the qualifications. I have worked at multiple big4 firms and have the degrees, certifications, and specific experience listed. After applying, I was contacted for a phone screening about a week later. It was very basic, more or less asking why I left my past employers, rather than asking about my skills. About a week later, I had a technical interview, and they actually asked technical questions for once. However, they were very basic. It was a video interview, yet the interviewing manager didn't have his video on. That's very unprofessional how I must keep my video on, but I don't know who this person is or what they are doing. It appeared that he was multitasking. I didn't hear anything for a week, and I emailed the recruiter for an update on next steps. They said that they are reviewing the candidates whom they interviewed. About 1-2 weeks later, I heard that they were not moving forward with me, noting that they were accepting an interval employee for the role. While I generally think that this is ok, I felt that something was off. After waiting for sometime, I did some OSINT and found the candidates that they mentioned. I was equally angry while laughing when seeing their qualifications because they didn't meet any of the requirements for the job, they barely had any cyber experience, and the cherry on top...this wasn't an internal employee like they mentioned. They wanted 5 years of cyber experience, 2 years of specialized experience, certifications, degrees, and specific skills. This person barely had 3 years of generic job experience with a small, unknown company. I am extremely confident that this person didn't meet any qualifications or have any skills, especially since this person's title changed a few months later. I think this was a diversity hire because this person was not like me yet fit the typical "boxes" that companies diversity hire for. This was also when they had DEI hiring initiatives. This is shocking because they claim that they want the best, but they would rather hire cheap labor. Additionally, I think they have a strong bias for unemployed/laid off individuals. I wouldnt suggest working at KPMG. I applied to several roles and it was a waste of time. The leadership is incompetent and they don't know what they want in an applicant. Since they value cheap and unskilled labor, I wouldnt want them performing any services.
