I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Nov 2015
Interview
I was taken into a room where the assessor took down some details about me and my availability. He then went over what would happen during my assessment. He showed me the resources available to me and told me that I had five minutes to prepare.
I read through the brief, looked at the cards while taking down some notes for that time before the assessor came back. The scenario was that he was having some friends over for dinner, wanted Butternut Squash but none was available. I asked him questions to narrow down what he would want while offering extra products such as drinks and desserts. The role play then came to an end and he left the room
Next I filled out a feedback form about what went well, what didn't go well and what I would do to improve. The assessor came back and let me know that a manager would come in for a one to one.
The manager then entered and the interview lasted for around 15 minutes. He asked me various questions regarding my experiences and the four principles (Inspiration, In-Touch, Integrity and Innovation).
After the interview I was told that they would get in touch. I received a call the next day and accepted the offer.

Interview
Initially went and the last candidate overran (i waited for 40 minutes extra) so my interview got moved to next week. Original interviewer wasn't available so a colleague performed it. They could not find the interview sheet so had to come up with questions on the spot and get my details again. I was a bit annoyed but I think the interview was okay.

Question 1
What would you do if you have been given a task but a long queue is building up at tills, and there is only one colleague serving?
Quite informal, mostly asking about my reasons for applying to them specifically - I recommend looking at their welfare and environmental status, and the fact that their brand is associated with higher quality food

Question 1
Why would you choose to work at M&S rather than at another supermarket?
I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England)
Interview
Very chilled out interview with a few questions about simple stuff like what you would do in a confrontational event. Really nice interviewer, felt more like a chat than an interview.
