I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Oliver Wyman in Mar 2017
Interview
Went to a Dubai recruitment evening in London and subsequently applied to the Dubai office.
Shortly after I applied I received a link for the online test (48 hours deadline) - it's not designed for candidates to get all 30 questions correct, I think it's better to answer less questions with higher accuracy than more with less.
First round interview - one hour on the phone, interviewer was on his way to the airport so it was difficult to hear him sometimes and the phone call cut off once. Standard CV questions (although this interviewer was not as interested with past experiences), then a maths brain teaser (xx^xx what number would this end in), followed by a market sizing case (annual market size in £ of chewing gum in London).
Second round interview - one hour on the phone, thorough CV questions followed by a case. I overestimated the complexity of the second round case and focused by preparation on difficult business strategy and M&A cases, but turned out to be a simple market sizing question. Market sizing case was very very similar to the first one (how many windows in London), however towards the end I froze for a minute when it came to an overly complex calculation I set myself up to do - make sure to keep your notes clear and as simple as possible in order to avoid such confusion. Received feedback that I would not be continuing in the process due to this hiccup. Overall, pleasant experience and would definitely apply again.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself
Annual size in £ of the chewing gum industry in London
How many windows are there in London
3 weaknesses
First behavioral interview super annoying that it is 3 at once. Typical tell me about yourself and why oliver wyman. The interviewer seemed like already made up the decision and it was very uncomfortable to undergo the interview.
Did not recieve a callback.
There was an online assessment which tested mostly mental math and reading graphs. Then, there was a 30 minute case interview and a 30 minute behavioral. Fairly straightforward and standard, with the case being easier than average.
