      Vice President UPMC.com Interview

      11 Oct 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pittsburgh, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at UPMC (Pittsburgh, PA) in Sept 2011

      Interview

Saw posting for VP UPMC.com and applied. Was contacted by UPMC to schedule a phone interview. Basic interview on past work history. Was told that there were a lot of applicants but most were PR people and they wanted a digital strategist, that I was one of the few who were qualified. I was asked to provide a portfolio of work samples and I complied. BTW they changed the job title to VP Digital Strategy. Was told that I would receive a package of info in the mail. Waited three weeks no package, so I called and left a VM. Received a call a week later that a search firm was being hired to recruit because there were so few qualified applicants (backhanded complement?). Was told that they would get back to me when the firm was hired. Three weeks later I was told a NYC based PR search firm was hired--what happened to the digital strategist. Was called a month later by the search firm. They told me that they heard that I was interested in the role but they are looking for a PR person who had digital experience not an IT person...huh? UPMC is obsessed with greed and the battle with Highmark is laughable. The people are arrogant and well the plan is basically to eat their young...not sure if they understand the risk of the game they are playing
