I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2016
Interview
There is an initial recruiter screen like most larger tech organizations, a talk with the hiring manager and then a take home exercise. If you pass this, then you will get an onsite. However, I suppose since they get so many applicants, this process took a long time and after I turned in my report which was a mix of payment scenarios and a PostgreSQL query assignment they sent me a canned response of rejection. Always sucks that there is no feedback whatsoever.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Since this was an analytical payments heavy position a lot of questions around the payment space as it relates to Uber and potential expansions they could do. You should be able to synthesize vague requirements and understand how to execute on process improvements with stakeholders given those requirements.
What are some potential challenges within the payment space in other countries?
How would you overcome obstacles when trying to set up payment vendors?
How would you choose between two payment vendors based on Uber's business model?
