I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (San Jose, CA) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied through referral. Took a preliminary 15 minute Hackerrank challenge, then a chat with the recruiter. Then scheduled a Skype interview. I was prepared for data structures and algorithms, but I was asked a question on probabilities. I understand that because my profile was Data Mining Engineer, I should've probably expected a question similar to that, and I was ready to answer some theoretical questions. I did not expect I would have to code a question on probabilities. I was sorely out of touch in terms of programming for probabilities, and I screwed up my interview. The interviewer was helpful, but I was deflated simply by hearing the question. I haven't heard back, but I have little doubt that this is going to be a reject.
