Process had several steps: Screening interview, hiring manager interview, hiring team individual interviews, and a writing prompt (not sure what would have been next, this was my final round).
Communication throughout the process was prompt, friendly and thorough.
Duration of the process was too long, approx. three months, and may have been longer had I not articulated a date I needed a response by.
Overall, I enjoyed everyone I had an opportunity to interact with. Yelp genuinely employs excellent people! They were also willing to give feedback which is hugely helpful. Essentially, it seems that for mid- to senior- level roles they want folks with prior experience in tech, first and foremost. They are also, for better or worse, very committed to interviewing candidates with the exact experience they are looking for. This means, if you read the JD and you match 100% of qualifications go for it! I believe they will respect this and give you a shot (their TA team seems on top of their game). Downside, if you’re missing even a couple of the qualifications it may not be worth your time to apply. The people I spoke with love Yelp and have been there a long time so I think they choose folks they feel they can recruit, train, and retain. Tough situation for those of us who LOVE the company but are missing key skills but practical for their long term goals, I am sure.
