I have been working at Primark part-time (More than 3 years)
Lots of shifts too choose from, can do weekend/weekday only. Plenty of opportunity to do overtime if one is flexible.
You are one in the thousands, the company is not flexible when it comes to your needs..
Advice to Management
Listen to employee feedback - not just once in the blue moon. And provide more accessible way to communicate with management.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Primark (Reading, England).
Actually atrocious. I've never felt the need to write a negative review about any companies I've interviewed with but this was different. For a number of reasons, but primarily 3;
- the interviewer collected me from reception 45 minutes later than my interview was due to start. I had to keep asking the receptionist what was happening because nobody bothered to tell me or had even clocked I was still waiting. I really wish I had listened to my instincts and just left then
- whilst I was sat in reception waiting for the interviewer, a member of the recruitment team came to sit on the sofa next to me to take feedback from a hiring manager about another candidate. So not only was I not having my own interview, I was now hearing the warts and all feedback on another candidate. In the middle of reception. Great that privacy is valued here. Oh, it's not.
- when the interviewer finally collected me, there was no real apology and I was taken to a room and for well over an hour was talked at...and I genuinely mean this, hand on heart, I was not asked one single interview question. I learned nothing from the 'meeting' and even my questions were rebuffed quite flippantly as if it was all a really funny anecdote. What is this place?
I would actually go out of my way to warn people off applying and 'interviewing' with Primark. And before you ask, no this is not a review from an aggrieved rejected candidate, I wouldn't have progressed even if they'd offered me a six figure salary (which also they wouldn't, because their packages are well below their competitors as I found out subsequently).
