Pros

Only pro is that it's a remote position

Cons

Terrible culture with racist managers and coworkers who get away with anything. I have been on the receiving end of the worst types of interactions from my supervisor and other individuals on my team. They bully, berate and belittle me all the time. I am the only Black person on my team and they go out of their way to constantly remind me of that. They act like they are joking and send the most racist memes. I have literally received memes of minstrel characters as a "joke" because we have similar lips. I feel so trapped and stressed working here, because I have bills so it's not so simple to just quit because of the abuse. HR is a joke and there isn't a even ONE Black person on the team so there is no one for me to go to for support. About a year ago I tried reporting it to HR, and was told they'd look into it. Then 3 days after I filed my report I was called into a random meeting with my supervisor where they told me that HR told them about what I said, and that they felt betrayed because they thought we had a good relationship so they don't know why i didn't just come to them directly. They did not even investigate what I reported, just went straight to the person who I reported and asked them if it was true or not and told them they can't be racist. That was it. That HR person isn't even with the company anymore and i have a strong feeling that they never even did any investigation because they are friends with my boss. Since then the behavior has just gotten worse because my boss now believes its an "inside joke" when they talk about my race since we had that one conversation and i left it agreeing that it wasn't a big deal because i was afraid of losing my job. I am so stressed out signing into work every that my hair is actually starting to fall out. The culture here is so toxic if you are a Black/Brown person, it's hard to express. I am looking hard for another job, but unfortunately it's taking a long time to find something because the market is so bad. I strongly strongly encourage everyone to stay away.

Pros

Work-life balance, employee offsites for team planning and "bonding"

Cons

I have experienced distinct patterns of discrimination and favoritism despite the company's stated commitment to fostering a diverse and supportive workplace. One of the most glaring disparities is the lack of diversity in various teams and departments, which are predominantly white, as are the majority of managers and senior leadership. This lack of diversity contradicts the company's supposed commitment to inclusivity and only serves to perpetuate a homogenous and exclusionary culture. I have noticed Alma constantly promoting certain individuals without merit, further entrenching inequities and undermining employee morale. The biases in recruiting and hiring are another major cause for concern, and it is evident that this contributes to Alma's homogeneous culture. Whenever I provide feedback or ask questions to the leadership of Talent, it is met with outright dismissal, unnecessary run-around, and data. Feedback to Alma's DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) leadership is met with evasive discussions and a clear lack of awareness and ability to make significant changes. Although Alma offers the significant benefit of remote work, I find it much simpler to accept that Alma is like every other tech company. They provide company merchandise for "company engagement," promote and retain poor managers and leaders, make many promises without taking any action, and target people who speak out and challenge the organization to do better.
