I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almac is a great company with a distinctively friendly informal culture. What surprised me when joining was the level of effort to support that fellow colleagues give - some truly great people working for Almac across the globe

    Cons

Very client focussed which means you have to be ready to go that extra mile. not a Con as such, but if that's not for you then maybe Almac is not for you.

    Advice to Management

keep it up and don't lose the culture.

I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The money is good for the area compared with other companies.

Plenty of opportunity to work your way up the ladder.

    Good job security.

Offer job share contracts and flexi time

    Cons

Wages are poor considering what people get paid in pharma companies globally.

    A lot of micro management.

    Very inflexible with holidays.

    Poor morale among some staff.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff to allow for holiday requirements.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Almac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was the only good thing

    Cons

Where to start. Low morale on the factory floor, anybody above the production floor treated a hell of alot better than the workers in production. If you are willing to keep your nose in the supervisors backside you will do ok for yourself. All this talk about Almac being a family business but I was never treated like dirt in my own family home. Supervisors and management need to get a grip and realise what is happening on the floor. Anybody I know who I worked with all have the same feeling of dread going into work. But nobody will listen to the workers as they don't matter. All Almac cares about is quantity over quality. Was the worst 4 years of my working life while employed by them. Glad to see the back of it now.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers. They are the ones who get the work out the door for Almac. So a little more respect towards them and maybe a thank you once in a while wouldn't hurt. That can go a long way

I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company benefits such as on site parking, perks card, family fun day, lunchtime lectures, Ace award, generous holidays, flexi (in some departments). Salary is good but no set salary scale in place so I found there are people in the same position as me but more money for no obvious reason (for my department anyways).

    Cons

My department in particular have elements of micro management which can add to timelines and decrease morale.

    Advice to Management

Better management training for management to ensure team is happy and motivated.

I find some senior management won't say hello to you in the corridor and can be quite ignorant. Not a reflection on the company but perhaps something that can be looked at.

I worked at Almac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Westfield Healthcare
    Free Parking
    Kitchen on each floor

    Cons

Silo mentality is paramount in Almac Clinical Services
If you work your way up through the company you still get paid less than someone who comes in at that level but hasn't the business experience.
Workload can be unrealistic and communication pathways need to be much clearer both to internal and external customers.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees at team meetings, its not a complaining session, its genuine issues that if addressed could really help the department

I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working on a variety of projects to develop new therapies and make a difference to patients around the world; continuous learning and opportunities for development; working alongside dedicated experienced staff who share knowledge readily, job satisfaction of meeting client requirements and deadlines; great team-working environment and a good atmosphere

    Cons

I don't think there are really any specific cons associated with working at Almac. No two days are the same, which means working here is both interesting and motivating.

    Advice to Management

Keep engaging with staff as you already do and have done over the years- the Almac 'family' is behind you.

I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Foundation status, all profit re-invested in the company, very innovative.
Good team spirit across the company

    Cons

Location is not great, 40 minutes from Belfast, limited car park space, need to get in early to avoid a 15 minutes walk in the morning

    Advice to Management

Would be good to publicise more the charitable work activity within the McClay Foundation
