I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almac is a great company with a distinctively friendly informal culture. What surprised me when joining was the level of effort to support that fellow colleagues give - some truly great people working for Almac across the globe

    Cons

Very client focussed which means you have to be ready to go that extra mile. not a Con as such, but if that's not for you then maybe Almac is not for you.

    Advice to Management

keep it up and don't lose the culture.

I have been working at Almac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Although salaries start low, depending on your business unit it is possible to earn good pay rises at the end of each year based on performance. Almac provide a lot of benefits to their employees, and arrange an annual 'fun day' for employees to take their families to. Almac provide several benefits through business partnerships too, including Microsoft HUP and SSE Arena tickets.

    Cons

Salaries are lower than the UK, the ROI and even other companies in NI. There are a number of individuals in middle management whose behaviors do not encourage a pleasant working environment or inspire confidence. Opportunities for advancement are open to internal candidates, but quite often the successful candidate may be a questionable choice.

    Advice to Management

Provide managers with training in basic management practices and technique, there are many individuals who do not need it, but there are many who do.

    Pros

    Job security
    Short commute
    Pension

    Cons

    Snobbery
    Poor and ignorant Management
    Difficulty getting holidays.

    Advice to Management

    Get trained on “people skills”
    Unrealistic views setting timelines.
Book a room in and see exactly what that involves.
    Try working with outdated
Computer Systems and scanners that don’t work.
Try searching for people who cannot carry company mobiles and there is a no paging policy.
Hours wasted every day looking for basic tools to do our job...(scissors,rulers,sellotape,calculators,signs for walls, tables, chairs etc.)
Try booking a run into a room that isn’t large enough to accommodate the amount of packaging and drug needed to complete the run.Yet no one has the b...s to simply give the person allocating the rooms a size chart.
Managers that can’t contact other departments when they have done something wrong.Yet have no problem ordering their own department to sort it out.
All these things could be so easily solved and would make for a happy workforce.Yet management turns a blind eye.
Wake up for goodness sake.Any wonder you can’t keep workers. Its nothing to do with unsuitable shift hours ( which you would like people to think). Its the treatment, frustration and snobbery( only on the production floor) that leads to employees leaving.

26 days holiday as standard, plus bank holidays which you chose whether to take them off or bank the day.

    Cons

Cold and firm management style, like something from the 70's or 80's. They expect a lot from people without giving anything back.

    Advice to Management

Look at your pharma services business as people are not being treated well.

    Cons

management dont care about the 'workers' opinions, do as i say not as i do attitude, can break the rules/GMP/SOPs when they feel like it, had out warnings for fun, daft shift pattern (they say they are all about 'family' but with the current shift patterns employees dont get to spend time with their families.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people doing the work. promote from within for certain positions and with people that can do the job not someone with fancy degrees that dont have a clue.
