Pros
Double discount, hourly rate, often local
Cons
The sheer expectation of what you're expected to do and in the time you have to do it is not at all realistic. Forever working through breaks to play catch up. Deliveroo, don't even get me started on that. By law you're entitled to a 20 minute uninterrupted break if you work 6 hours+. You work 1 on 1 so you run the store and someone works the tills. If a Deliveroo order comes in you have 10 minutes from the minute it comes in to pick the order and prepare it for the rider to collect regardless of the size of the order. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Store managers are mostly male, middle aged sexist perverts, who have failed to make it in supermarkets. Expect to work many hours unpaid, almost an expectation as part of the job. As with most retail jobs, you're promised the world but it never happens.
