I worked at Co-op (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work and life balance a small team that worked well together. Decent rate of pay. Very good holiday 6 weeks.

    Cons

Can be boring when the shop is quiet but that's in any shop. Only part time hours available. Customers can be very difficult and rude.

    Advice to Management

If you have friendly managers you will get the best out of staff which will reflect on customers. Not much chance for full time hours

I worked at Co-op (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible and friendly management (mostly) able to get a good work life balance. Never any issues with store manager he was always very helpful and approachable

    Cons

Particular staff in my store were obvious favourites and full time staff were condescending and got away with murder

    Advice to Management

Crack down on full time staffs mistakes instead of blaming part time staff for everything. Call out inappropriate behaviour

    I worked at Co-op full-time

    Pros

Some great people work here - highly ethical company whose aim is to do good in the community. Pay is industry average or BETTER. Quite good benefits (mot as good as they used to be) Certainly plenty of opportunity to move within the company.

    Cons

But where there are people there are politics and it is rife.
On the whole - a good company to work for - opportunities for progress exist- but competition is stiff! Becoming more commercial thinking in order to survive but still behind the curve compared to their competition

    Advice to Management

SOME managers seem to think that once they reach a certain level they can sit back and let others do the work for them. I feel sorry for the warehouse workers as many of their team managers were never trained to do their job properly after a restructure - just left to get on with it.
