I have been working at Co-op part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a part time job, it's a decent gig. The majority of the work isn't difficult if you have some common sense and if you've got a decent team it's even easier.

    Cons

The way shops are managed beyond the in-store staff is atrocious. Shops are overfilled with stock to the point of it being a health and safety risk, even after being told about the issue countless times.
Corners are cut at every possibility, the shops are falling apart, things break down on a daily basis and instead of being fixed, the symptoms are just patched up until it breaks again.
Staff are not at all taken care of, pay is awful with Team Leaders only getting ~50p on top of shop floor staff (who don't get a lot as is) even though they're expected to run the shop independently and take responsibility for anything that goes wrong.
Back-office system is dated and often crashes or encounters issues, still running Windows XP.
"Make sure you don't come into work if you have an illness that could spread to your colleges" while also not paying for sick days. If I take a couple days off for being ill, I lose a chunk of my paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Take responsibility for your staff and actually listen to what they have to say. We're the ones who have to live with your decisions.

    I worked at Co-op part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay, Holidays, Very Friendly Helpful Staff Who Were Also Supportive

    Cons

    Management
It is poor they can get away with bullying and harassment of staff. A few instances pay was altered leaving you with less than what you worked for if you challenged it you were met with intimidation and anger, holidays where difficult to get authorised as management made sure they got theirs in first, holiday diary was always hidden.
You could be one of the best with customer service skills and management would frown up on it.

    Advice to Management
