Benefits on par with most major global entities of equal or higher caliber. Name recognition (now) a benefit in that global entities have at least heard of Intertek - when previously we were largely known by the names of those entities we had acquired.
Cons
Where to begin? Incessant focus on revenue production & company stock value provides no room for strategic business management at the business unit level. Annual 'cost crunch' as a reaction to cyclical revenue shortages are used to reduce cost in order to bolster earnings. Frustratingly short-sighted view of human resources. Here's a tip - instead of firing 10% of staff annually only to replace them later - why not reduce overall Lab capacity but shutting down a few labs that perennially cannot produce revenue at an acceptable level? The idea of a local resource as having more value to a client than having an experienced, competent and loyal perhaps a longer distance from the client? Hmmm - local, inexperienced & gun-shy or regional, experienced & expert? Culturally devoid of any characteristic that could be seen as a positive or admirable personal attribute.
