Pros

-Decent pay, even though I did get paid more in my last job. -Breaks are unpaid (again, my lost job would have paid them). -The supervisors are nice and friendly, it feels like they're your friends. The manager is also lovely and very friendly. -A lot of chances for overtime, for people who want them. -The induction was very useful, they showed us where the stock rooms where etc. -The changing rooms are always clean, and the cleaning staff are lovely people.

Cons

-During my induction day, I was placed at a random table to fold the trousers. I wasn't told how to do it (I know it's not rocket science, but I wasn't told how to do other certain things as part of my job and had to work it out myself). The manager in charge of the induction also forgot about me and did not tell me to go home, so I had to wait until closing time to go (although I was paid for the overtime!) -You feel like you really HAVE to do overtime. I'm an university student, I have exams and essays to write. They all look very disappointed when I refuse overtime and they keep asking me even though I did say I couldn't do any. -You are not given much direction. At times, I don't even know what to do in the shop and I end up having to make my own work. -Sometimes, the manager is not very useful when dealing with customers. He can be very rude to them. I'm not a fan of 'the customer is always right' thing, but when he is rude to the customers, they take it out on ME. So it doesn't help me at all. -They sent a PREGNANT woman home because she 'just sat around' even though she is visibly pregnant and she WAS working. She was alone in the morning in the fitting room and dealt with customers while sorting clothes out. I don't know the whole story, but she IS PREGNANT. I did lose some respect for the company. -I feel like the HR office are VERY rude. I was told by the manager who took charge of the induction that I could take a day off for my birthday if I called the absence line. I did, and the lady just said 'No', asked for my name and then just hang up on me. Very rude. -It feels like they refuse ALL holidays on workday. Maybe they just don't like me. -They are very late, and dare I say, lazy when it comes to the review. I'm a Christmas tempt so not being told if I'm kept causes me to be very anxious. I need to know if I'll have to look for a new job! I've been told to come back next week but that's when my contract ends. I'd have preferred if I knew maybe 2 weeks before the end of my contract so that I'll look for a new job. -I'd really like some sort of a canteen maybe? In my last job, we had hot food every lunch time. Although Primark does offer microwaves and a fridge. But fresh food would be nice. -I feel like they need bigger lockers, I can hardly fit anything inside it. -The induction was a bit boring. -Please offer more training to people. I know someone who hasn't been trained to use the tills, and he has been working for more than a year. I had to force myself into a group to learn how to use the tills. There is a huge need for people trained in customer service - but why wouldn't you train more people? It just makes zero sense. There should be more opportunities to be trained, I shouldn't have to ask for it.

Pros

You get lots of PTO up front as a part timer and can gain flex hours overtime. Get a 50 cent raise every six months.

Cons

Was told during onboarding that if a Christian comes into the store spreading the gospel, I have to kick them out. This includes the mention of the Jesus without the church invite. Managers claim its rude and if a customer does it, they get booted. Faced harassment from a customer and management didn't let me switch too a different department. Extremely high turnover rate and managers don't replace them, making your job more stressful during peak hours. Hard to use PTO. Little to no training. Too many bachelor and master holding part timers who get lucked out of moving up in the company. Managers give some people no task while pilling on multiple tasks on one person. Too many managers to deal with (and usually never find) and the full timers make you do the dirty work while they "unpack boxes". Its a pro-LGBT anti christian company. If they want to be pro-LGBT, than more power to them. But anti-Christian is discriminatory and unnecessary.
