Pros

Great relationship with store manager who cares about their staff and HR seems to be trying to create a better culture but the insincerity from the execs is ruining it. Get to build great relationships with customers and their pets. Help rescues fundraise.

Cons

Wages are far too low. As FT I barely get more than minimum wage. Not enough staff to service the customers properly. Customers can be unreasonable. Prices are getting too high and staff get screamed at for it. Hours are all over the place. One week you get lots of hours next week none. Benefits are pitiful. There’s a health spending account but I can’t afford to pay up front and submit receipts with what I’m being paid. It’s a joke.

Pros

Great store manager. Made me feel welcome and gave great direction to staff

Cons

Wages aren’t great. I didn’t get enough hour. Home office is restructuring so they aren’t very organized

Pros

Store level teams are amazing, love the day to day of it all and helping customers, obviously petting the dogs that come into the store. I was lucky enough to have a manager that advocated for me to the best of their ability.

Cons

For a company that is constantly increasing prices, raising average sales targets, putting the onus on store management for outreach and marketing, the pay is terrible. The expectation is that we are essentially personal shoppers working for minimum wage, it is straight up wage theft and labour exploitation of underemployed people. Private equity is running this organization into the ground.

Pros

Seeing animals at work Talking with customers

Cons

Theyre way too political. They get involved in too many forced PR campaigns. They try and jam their "inclusivity" down your throat. They're super nice and understanding until you call in for a shift because your having a mental health crisis They harass you to get private information from customers and if the customers are unwilling then the managers will be sure to let you know.. The company makes ALOT of money...like alot of money and they barely just started paying their full time a bit more. The seniors in this company make alot of money...and even more in bonuses. Don't expect anything above minimum wage...don't even expect something liveable from this company.

Pros

*Pay started at 18.25 two years ago which was pretty good *At the start if you had finished your work you could leave early

Cons

* Management take things to seriously and is uptight about smallest of things *Managers think they are important somebody's in the companies but don't realize are also a number and will snake you at each chance you get *Cut hours after just a couple weeks (40 down to 27) *Incompetent "Trainers" who have been doing the job for 50 years so have zero ability to teach and only know how to do it one way *Fire for emailing management about a harassment claim my mistake was not going forward with it before being fired

Employees don’t matter

Pros

Dogs coming into the store

Cons

Laughable wages for the amount of work required. Absolutely no employee loyalty. Benefits are the absolute bare minimum. Employee turnover throughout the entire company is very high. The expectations and pressure put on minimum wage workers is untenable. Managers doing shady things and then firing staff for doing the same things.

Cons

Poor work environment No growth or development that can transition outside Rens toxic culture Benefits are not good for families Pay is way below average Work culture expects you to work nights and weekends Executives and managers are poorly trained, which will lead you to feeling lost and like you’re managing yourself (which you are)
