Pros

I have enjoyed working virtually for RES. The administration and leads are very helpful. The training is thorough and expectations are reasonable allowing good work/home life balance. I like being a part of an innovative and unique way to educate students.

Cons

The only con is that the pay is lower than what I would make as a public school teacher and there is no increase or "steps" as in a public school. Also, the school does not contribute to TRS.

Pros

Great people to work with, open to new ideas, flexible, put people and families first, strong work/life balance values.

Cons

-Salaries are quite less than what one would make at an ISD - There is some disorganization and poor communication at the corporate level mostly because it’s a larger organization that is still being run like a “mom and pop”

Pros

This job will take advantage of you in any way it possibly can. There is no work life balance. You are overworked and underpaid, and told that you are virtuous for it.

Cons

Overworked underpaid they do not value their teachers at all. No one should be teaching for so little.

Pros

Work/life balance is great, which can be rare in the education field. I have a lot of freedom in how I tailor teaching and presenting the curriculum. There is room to actually help students one-on-one and in small group instruction. This allows for opportunities to build real and meaningful relationships with students that not only help them to make positive life choices but also to be more academically successful. I enjoy working with my colleagues because our campus combines the creative, free-spirited Austin vibe with the more rigorous and disciplined energy of ResponsiveEd.

Cons

Our school has a high concentration of students who read below grade-level but we have an intense, text-heavy curriculum. This is quite difficult to navigate sometimes when there just is not enough time to work individually with each student. There are some pedagogical practices that are a bit archaic but I think we are moving forward for the most part.
