Last week colleagues took part in wellbeing events to continue the conversations around mental health. We were excited to welcome Paul Merson to our final wellbeing event last Friday. Paul is an English former professional footballer, who has won the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup with Arsenal. He also played for England at the World Cup and European Championship. Paul has lost more than £7m to gambling in a life dogged by addiction. In his interview, he spoke to colleagues about his journey to understand his addiction and what he did to overcome it and turn his life around. A big thank you to Paul for joining us last week and helping us continue to make Anglian Water a safe place to talk and share how we're feeling.
Last week we supported the nation’s biggest mental health conversation, #TimeToTalkDay. As a collective at Anglian Water we took the time to talk about mental health, and how we can better support each other. We're continuing to make Anglian Water a safe place to talk about mental health by opening up these conversations so we can hopefully get to a place where talking and discussing mental health is no longer a stigma. A healthy workforce = a happy workforce! Mind #mentalhealthmatters

We’re really proud to have been named as a ‘sector-leading’ company by our regulator Ofwat in its annual Service and Delivery Report. In a challenging year for all businesses, we’ve continued to deliver for our customers with world-leading performance on leakage, as well as top scores on sewer flooding. We were pleased to be called out for delivering against a high proportion of the customer outcomes we share with other water companies, and for doing so efficiently. In another year full of disruption and challenges due to Covid-19, we ensured that our customers could rely on a consistent supply of some of the best quality drinking water in the UK. Yet there’s always more we can achieve – so we’ll be taking this opportunity to learn from our fellow water companies in the areas where they’re leading the way. We’re so pleased to have been recognised alongside our reporting partners at Emperor with two awards at this year’s Strategic Comms Awards: Best Use of Purpose as a Business Driver and Best Annual Report 2021. Our purpose, to provide environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve through our commitment to Love Every Drop, genuinely does drive everything we do at Anglian Water, so it’s fantastic that others can see how it shapes our actions every day. We’re wholly committed to being transparent in our reporting, and shining a light on our progress against our environmental and social goals is a cornerstone of our annual integrated report: ‘The more we keep exploring, the more we’ll achieve’. Helen Dunne, editor of CorpComms Magazine and organiser of the awards, said: “The clarity of Anglian Water’s vision was really apparent – it’s clear that for them, purpose is not just words on a page but really shines through in all of their actions.” Explore our Annual Integrated Report at https://lnkd.in/gzaixaj
We have recently celebrated #WorldToiletDay. 3.6 billion people across the world don’t have access to a safe and sanitised toilet. Without clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, people can’t stay healthy. Children are frequently sick and miss school. And parents are too ill, or busy caring for their families, to work. Making clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene part of normal everyday life for everyone is not just a dream. It is achievable. We are proud to support the work of WaterAid UK through sponsorship, fundraising activities, payroll giving and company time. Helping the charity achieve its aim to reach everyone, everywhere with clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene. For more information visit: https://lnkd.in/giAwW74q #loveeverydrop
We’re over halfway through the first week of COP26, and we’re really proud to be in the Blue Zone in Glasgow. This year’s conference is being hailed as the last chance to limit temperature rises to 1.5°C – so why is it so important? Matt Pluke is Anglian Water’s Sustainability Leader, and has been leading our involvement at COP26. For him, previous summits have not given enough attention to the need to adapt to climate change. COP26 is our chance to put resilience at the top of the agenda – and that’s the aim of the Resilience Hub, where Anglian Water is co-leading the Water theme. #COP26 #AnglianWater #Loveeverydrop
We are delighted to win the Royal Society for Public Health award for Health and Wellbeing in the workplace. This award was particularly poignant as it recognised Anglian Water for our holistic, health and wellbeing focused programme that supported staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
