Btomorrow Ventures (BTV) – BAT’s corporate capital venture arm – invests in sustainable packaging and bioplastics company FlexSea founded in 2019. After being crowned last year by Battle of Minds, BAT’s global business competition for early career talent, FlexSea received a £50k fund and took part in BTV’s ESG Lab to accelerate BAT’s progress towards a more sustainable business. Together with BAT, they’ll continue to explore how their innovative technologies and processes could benefit BAT’s supply chain. BAT’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Mike Nightingale said: “The partnership with FlexSea enables BAT to explore the development of innovative technology that could improve future packaging and product development to help meet our sustainability targets, and also deliver competitive benefits.” Read more below.

Kelly Burtenshaw has been announced as an Executive role model, Jessie Chen, Priscila Cruz, Karen Taluskie and Melissa McLean have been included in the Future Leaders list and Wael Sabra and Ali Akbar have been recognised as Advocates. All of these great change makers have been recognised for their achievements and passionate contribution in promoting gender equality and inclusion in their workplace and their own networks. In March 2022 BAT announced that the ownership of our business in Russia was no longer sustainable in the current environment and that our intention was to transfer our business. BAT has now formally entered into an agreement to sell its Russian and Belarusian businesses in compliance with local and international laws. Upon completion, BAT will no longer have a presence in Russia or Belarus and will receive no financial gain from ongoing sales in these markets.

BAT has published its Half-Year Results for the six months to 30 June 2023. The results demonstrate a resilient performance, with the company on track to meet its full-year guidance. Chief Executive, Tadeu Marroco reflects on his first 10 weeks in his new role and highlights the resilient performance of BAT, with the company on track to meet its full-year guidance. On World Vape Day, we announced results from a new clinical study of Vuse, our flagship vapour brand. The results show adult consumers using Vuse (ePod and ePen3) demonstrated significantly better results for some biomarkers relevant to smoking-related diseases than smokers. These important results add to the scientific evidence supporting the role of vaping in #TobaccoHarmReduction. This is one of the largest ever vapour studies and we are proud of our world-class scientists who delivered it.
