IKEA is proud to support EveryYouth who stop young people falling through the cracks by helping them build a life they are proud of. 90% of homeless young people experience childhood trauma – it’s no wonder that this group is disproportionately likely to be NEET (not in education, employment or training). That is why IKEA and EveryYouth are partnering to support young people experiencing homelessness to overcome barriers to education, employment and training (EET) via funding for the EveryYouth Boost, which helps young people with targeted financial support to overcome practical barriers to EET. EveryYouth’s Boost fills crucial gaps in support, offering help with items such as work clothes, training expenses and travel which are often not included in conventional service provision. In just six months IKEA’s funding delivered 208 positive EET outcomes for young people in EveryYouth’s Network. We’re also partnering on Project Flourish, which was created in collaboration with Hays, who are a partners and Activator of The Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme. EveryYouth are supporting young people from their Network into jobs at IKEA, allowing them to put homelessness behind them for good.
🌸 Glad Midsommar! 🌸 (That’s “Happy Midsummer!” in Swedish) As the sun reaches its peak and nature is in full bloom, we’re celebrating one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions — Midsommar. Every year, Swedes gather with family and friends around the maypole, a flower-covered pole, to dance, sing, play games, and sit down to a delicious traditional buffet. 🍓 Homes and tables are decorated with flowers and greenery, and the air is filled with laughter, music, and the joy of being together. 💙💛 Midsommar is a celebration of summer, sharing, and togetherness — values that are at the heart of IKEA identity. We’re proud to see a little piece of this Swedish tradition blend beautifully in our stores across the UK & Ireland, making this holiday a unique and joyful moment for our co-workers and customers alike. Here’s to The Wonderful Everyday — filled with sunshine, strawberries, and shared smiles. #GladMidsommar #TheWonderfulEveryday #LifeAtHome
Creating Opportunity, Together At IKEA, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to belong, grow, and contribute, no matter their background or journey. We’re proud to work alongside partners like the Refugee Council and Breaking Barriers to support displaced people in rebuilding their lives, with access to skills training, employment, and community connection. This year: To date, our UPPNÅ programme has supported over 450 refugees through job readiness workshops and provided 253 paid placements across the UK and Ireland - helping to unlock long-term career opportunities. Co-workers across the business are making a difference; from volunteering their time to transform a youth space in London with the Refugee Council, to courageously sharing their own lived experiences as part of our Untold Stories series. We continue to encourage other businesses to join us, sharing our learnings and tools through our open-source Skills for Employment Toolkit. Because when people feel they belong, we all grow stronger together. Learn more about our co-workers and their Untold Stories here. #IKEA #WorldRefugeeDay #BetterTogether #WithRefugees
At IKEA, we’re committed to creating compassionate, inclusive homes and communities, because we believe our differences make us stronger. Today, on IDAHOBIT, we’re celebrating Everyday Allyship: the small, meaningful actions that help create a more inclusive world. We asked our co-workers what allyship means to them, and their answers were clear - it starts with listening, and learning. We're proud to mark IDAHOBIT with our iconic STORSTOMMA rainbow bag, now in its sixth year with 100% of profits supporting LGBTQ+ charities across the UK and Ireland. So far, we've donated over £165,826 to 16 incredible organisations and thanks to your support through Rainbow Cake sales (and yes, the cake will be back soon!) together, we have been able to enable 4,000 life-changing conversations through Switchboard. Together, we can keep making a difference. Because when we listen, we learn. And when we learn, we grow together. At IKEA, we want our co-workers to feel appreciated and cared for by securing the basics, including a fair income for all co-workers, personalised benefits, and gender-equal pay. That’s why we’ve redesigned our benefits approach to offer tailored, meaningful support for co-workers at every stage of life. As a key step, we’re excited to announce our enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption benefits alongside two new additions: Kinship Care Leave and enhanced Neonatal Care Leave. What does this mean for our co-workers? New Kinship Care Leave – Co-workers with at least 26 weeks of service can now receive 20 weeks of full pay. New Neonatal Care Leave – Co-workers can access up to 12 weeks of paid leave from day one. Improved Family Leave Eligibility – We’ve reduced the service criteria, allowing more co-workers to benefit from our enhanced family leave offerings. Enhanced Maternity & Adoption Leave – After 26 weeks of service, co-workers are entitled to 20 weeks of full pay. This increases to 26 weeks of full pay after one year of service or the option of a phased return to work. Enhanced Paternity Benefit – Paternity leave is increasing from 2 weeks to 6 weeks of full pay. These enhancements ensure greater flexibility and support for our co-workers when they need it most. Come see the wonderful workday! #IKEA #TheWonderfulWorkday #EmployeeBenefits #HealthandWellbeing #Inclusion
