IKEA has ranked 8th on the Forbes World's Best Employers 2024! We’re in great company on the new Forbes World’s Best Employers 2024 list, ranking as the 8th best in the world. As the highest-ranked retail company, we’re proud that our efforts to be a great place to work, learn, and grow have created workplaces full of engaged co-workers. The result of extensive surveys with employees worldwide, this ranking shows they value the opportunities, experiences, and culture we offer. That’s the most important feedback we could receive. Our culture and values guide and set us apart, but being a great employer takes continuous effort. We aim always to adapt, innovate, and reconsider how we work to ensure we keep moving in the right direction. None of this would be possible without our co-workers who embody the IKEA values every day. Your dedication and hard work are the true reasons behind any success we achieve, and we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you!
October 1st marks the start of Black History Month in the UK, an occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British economy, culture, and history. Under the national theme of 'Reclaiming Narratives', we shine a brighter light on their stories, allegories, and history. This year, IKEA is proudly hosting a careers stand on Saturday, 19th October at the UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show with over 7,500 people attending - giving us a fantastic diverse recruitment platform, to attract more talent to our business. Our Equal Everyday at IKEA We have made progress, grown our maturity and invested in our commitments to create more inclusive work environments for all co-workers and improving diverse representation in our leadership teams. We have set clear goals to reflect our local society at all levels in IKEA. Since last year, we have piloted a development programme “Rise Up”, with the ambition to unlock the potential of co-workers from under-represented ethnic backgrounds. We are in the early stages of reviewing the success and impact of Rise Up, however early indicators show us that 25% of co-workers have taken their next step into a new role. With our four co-worker resource groups, Ethnicity, Race & Nationality (UN/diluted), Disability (DiversAbility Alliance), LGBTQ+ (This is Me), Women’s (EmpowHER), we continue our journey to create an Equal Everyday for our co-workers. Come see the wonderful workday at IKEA.
Congratulations are in order for Laura Cerqueira for winning the Store Manager of the Year at The People in Retail Awards 2024. Laura's transformative and innovative leadership transformed IKEA Lakeside into a thriving, people-centric workplace. She significantly reduced staff turnover by fostering talent development, inclusivity, and celebrating achievements. Her innovative strategies enhanced the customer experience, driving the store to be recognised as IKEA's top store in the UK for customer satisfaction. The People in Retail Awards 2024 held at The London Marriott Hotel, commemorates individuals and teams who have set new benchmarks for innovation, dedication, and service in the retail sector. As a premier event in the industry calendar, the awards celebrate the very best of retail talent and recognises the people who play a vital role in shaping the future of the industry. The awards were judged by a distinguished panel of 21 retail leaders, HR experts, and industry innovators, who carefully reviewed hundreds of nominations across various categories. The panel was tasked with identifying those who have not only excelled in their roles but also contributed significantly to their communities and the broader retail landscape. We’d also like to say a HUGE well done to Tanya Hamilton and Hiliary Jenkins on their nominations! We would like to celebrate them for their achievements and leadership and for being an inspiration for the many.
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, but we know this is far from reality for thousands of children in England. That’s why, together with Shelter, we’re unveiling the UNWELCOME HOME – IKEA’s FLISAT doll’s house reimagined to show the reality of life in temporary accommodation. Each room shows a different problem – and each room represents typical housing for a whole family. Together, we’re encouraging people to sign our open letter calling on the government to commit to building 90,000 social homes each year for 10 years. The UNWELCOME HOME will be on display in store at IKEA Wembley, IKEA Manchester, and IKEA Birmingham. If you can’t make it to our stores, please find out more and join our campaign. #IKEA #Shelter
Today we're opening our very first distribution centre in Ireland, just outside Dublin! This new logistics hub ends years of reliance on shipments of orders across the Irish Sea. With orders now packed right here in Ireland, we’ll halve delivery times to just 2-3 days. With this opening, all Dublin home deliveries will now be made exclusively by electric vans. This will drastically cut our diesel use by 283,000 litres yearly and reduce our CO2 emissions by 750 tonnes. And in just 18 months, zero-emission home deliveries will become the standard across all of Ireland. Thanks to Wincanton, XPO Logistics Europe and Glencar for making this possible. Apply for all open roles today to become a part of our new journey! #IKEA #TheWonderfulEveryday #NewOpening

Today marks another important milestone in this journey, with the launch of a new Dartford distribution centre that will bring faster home deliveries to customers across London and the Southeast, while reducing carbon emissions to better protect our planet." - Peter Jelkeby, UK&IE CEO & CSO
We are excited to announce the acquisition of our first Irish Customer Distribution Centre (CDC) in Ireland, just outside Dublin. This investment will drive our ambition to improve the shopping experience through increased availability of our products and reduced delivery lead times to support our customers shop whenever and wherever they want with us. Opening in early 2024, this new unit will help meet our goal of 100% zero emission deliveries for 2025. Powered by our own wind farms, rainwater harvesting and roof-based solar panels, this will be one of the most environmentally sustainable and energy efficient logistics facilities in Ireland!
