At IKEA IUK&IE, we are proud that 49% of all our managers across UK&IE are women and half of the country management team are led by women. Equal treatment and a shared responsibility for people and planet are deeply rooted in our culture and values and gender equality has been part of our country business plans for over a decade. By reflecting the communities we serve at every leadership level, we are able to start serious conversations, lift engagement and create an environment, culture and society that’s inclusive of all gender identities. Introducing new initiatives such as our Win/Win mentorship program which places a focus on representation of people from underrepresented ethnic and cultural backgrounds is one of the ways we’re supporting our aim to accelerate how we reflect society in our leadership teams. Gender equality goes beyond gender balance. Despite our progress, we are still on a journey and there is much more that needs to be done. So, this IWD and beyond, let’s together #EmbraceEquity for an Equal Everyday.
Together with The National Lottery Community Fund, we have supported local communities to create neighbourhoods and spaces that feel like an extension of home across the UK – Places Called Home. To enable this, £1.5 million was provided as micro grants that benefited over 300 local charities and community groups, together reaching over 100,000 people. “You’re not throwing that away, are you?” Last year, our co-workers helped save and repurpose 39 million returned, damaged and discontinued products, giving them a second life. It’s one example of how we’re addressing sustainability at IKEA, to prevent product waste and become fully circular by 2030. Do you also see value where others see waste? Good, because we’re looking for more people like you. It's so much more than a job.
We are guided by the vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. And first and foremost, we are committed to a good life for our own co-workers and support we provide, especially during the energy and cost of living crisis. We have promised to stand by their side with an investment of £12m in staff cost-of-living support – and that’s what we will continue to do today and in the future. Our vision is what unites us - we are here to do business in a good way. With IKEA, it is so much more than a job.

To help our customers save money and live more #sustainably, we're removing all non-rechargeable alkaline batteries from our product range by Oct. 2021. 💡 We hope this inspires you to make the switch to rechargeable batteries, too!
At IKEA, we're always looking for ways to creatively use our resources – especially when those resources often become waste. To help reduce air pollution caused by crop burning in northern India, we learned how to transform rice straw into raw material.
Thank you Forbes for recognizing us! At IKEA, regardless of experience level, each of our co-workers do something meaningful and inspiring that adds up to a better everyday life for the many. 😊
