Our first international curi-o-city stores 📍 We’ve cut the ribbon on our first two curi-o-city stores in Dubai which are opening along with a number of in-store concessions right across the UAE with our strategic partner AL MAYA GROUP. With strong local demand for high quality stationery and gifts for all ages, we’re really excited to be bringing our new curi-o-city brand, which first launched in the UK earlier this year, to even more customers. Head to Dubai Marina Mall or Mall of the Emirates to check out the first stores for yourself 🛒

This year, some of our amazing colleagues have marked 40 years’ service at WHSmith 👏 This is such an incredible achievement and we are very proud to have had them as part of the team for the past four decades ⭐ In the fast pace of retail, this is no mean feat and, today, we hosted a very special event recognising their achievements and celebrating 40 years of service for our customers. Thank you and congratulations 🎉
Hello Birmingham! Today marks the opening of our largest UK Travel store at Birmingham Airport. At 6,000 square feet, our flagship one-stop-shop for travel essentials really takes our customer proposition to another level! With a bespoke design, inspired by local architecture, and a tailored product offering, this latest store offers customers everything they would expect from a WHSmith, as well as a broader product range, including health & beauty and tech zones, and coffee. What more could time-pressed travellers need as they head off on their journey? 🌎 Andrew Harrison, Managing Director, UK Travel, commented: “Making our customers’ journeys better is what we’re here to do, and this flagship store opening at Birmingham really does just that. It’s a fantastic store and the team have worked tirelessly to perfect today’s opening. I really couldn’t be more proud of both the end result and also of the effort that has gone in to creating this bespoke format for our partner at Birmingham Airport and our customers.” A huge thank you and well done to all the teams at WHSmith, and our supplier partners who have been involved in the opening of this world-class store 👏
What’s better than giving second-hand books a new lease of life? From today, our customers can do exactly this through our new Bookcycle scheme, in partnership with Zeercle. WHSmith Bookcycle allows reading enthusiasts to give their pre-loved books a second life in return for an eGift card to spend in any of our High Street stores. The vast majority of the books will find new homes through Zeercle’s resale channels which offer second-hand books at reduced prices, with any that are unsuitable for resale recycled responsibly to minimise their impact on the environment. The launch of this scheme supports a sustainable future for the books that we sell and continues our commitment to championing literacy and a love of reading across the communities we serve, with even more books made accessible and affordable for readers through WHSmith Bookcycle.

As part of our Wellbeing strategy at WHSmith, we’re looking to remove the stigma and increase awareness about the menopause for colleagues in the workplace and beyond. Earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome Davina Mccall to talk openly with our colleagues and, this month, in recognition of World Menopause Day, we are launching the Stella for menopause app for ALL colleagues and their PARTNERS to shine a light on the educational resources, expert advice, and practical support – all available through the app. Our Head of Wellbeing, Juliette Cavilla, commented: “It’s really important to us to try and normalise the conversation around the menopause and make sure our people have support readily available to them when they need it. Stella is the perfect solution, offering science-backed information and personalised advice, and it is a great step forward that we have launched the app this month to not only our colleagues but also their loved ones.” #OurJourneyToBetter #StellaForMenopause #ForEveryJourneyTheresAWHSmith #MenopauseSupport

This year’s Black History Month theme is ‘Saluting Our Sisters’, which highlights black women who have shaped history, inspired change, and played a pivotal role in building community. As we mark Black History Month at WHSmith across our stores, online, and with all our people, we are focusing on recognising the invaluable contributions made by black women to society. In our bookshops, you’ll see bespoke spaces highlighting a range of titles from inspirational black authors, actresses, and prominent figures. We also continue promoting the work of black writers online at www.whsmith.co.uk, celebrating inspiring and important accounts within our fiction and non-fiction ranges. And across our social channels we will be shining a spotlight on some trailblazing titles inspiring our future generations.
