What a phenomenal event! Last week, over 300 of our High Street Cluster Managers, Area Managers and Support Centre colleagues joined together for our 2023 High Street Conference and Awards evening. It was a great day, receiving an update from a number of departments on the progress we’ve made in the year and all the excitement we have to come as we head into Christmas! It also gave our suppliers the opportunity to showcase the best of their products for the key trading period ahead. And, as if that wasn’t enough, there was a huge amount of success to celebrate, with our store teams, colleagues and suppliers recognised for their outstanding contributions, and a special recognition award to our Store of Excellence, Ilford, presented by our Chair, Annette Court. Congratulations to all our winners and nominees.
Our new starters will kick off their career working across our Travel, International and High Street businesses, gaining valuable experience throughout their 18 month programme and developing new skills by working with our Finance, Technology, Commercial, Merchandising and Operations teams. With a jam-packed induction programme, they met with CEO, Carl Cowling, earlier this week to hear about all things WHSmith! A big warm welcome to Amelia Amethyst, Amy Jobson, Faisal Khan, Hamza Rizwan, Isabella Iacono, Katie Dew, Megan Conroy, Melissa Hunt, Nageeb Islam, Nikki L., Paul Nash Rachael Burns and Stuart Nelson. We look forward to seeing how you progress on your journey at WHSmith! 🌟 #ForEveryJourneyTheresAWHSmith #Graduates #Retail #Career
We’re working to make our roles more visible for great talent and we want our organisation to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Exciting news! 📢 We’ve been shortlisted with our longstanding and fabulous charity partner National Literacy Trust for the Corporate Engagement Awards 2023 for our collaborative approach and best educational programme! The Young Readers Programme is all about providing essential support to local communities by raising literacy levels and encouraging a love of reading with children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative sits very close to our heart which is why we’ve been supporting it for nearly two decades - donating books, fundraising and raising awareness.
