      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon in Dec 2018

      Interview

I think it was very easy for me. It took about 1 hour on phone call. Mostly I was asked behavior questions. At the end of the interview I got 3-4 technical questions about. They were quite easy I think. Interviewer was very nice, spoke clean, friendly.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amazon in Aug 2022

      Interview

I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter about this position He was a very nice guy, very respectful and you can feel from speaking to him that he wanted you to succeed He asked me a couple of questions regarding my past experience that was of interest to him and after chatting for a while, he was interested in going forward with the process to get me a technical interview few days later He told me what to expect and what subjects to review so I can be better prepared to answer the technical questions For the technical interview, the interviewer was also a very nice guy, very knowledgeable and respectful He talks very well, he explain slowly he was very calm trying to make me at ease and he makes sure that you understand the question Overall, I enjoyed the experience even though I was not qualified to continue the interview process and judging from the recruiter and the technical interviewer, it's true that Amazon not only hires the best but also very nice people

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Some questions to make sure I know the fundamentals not necessarily related to the job - difference between bit vs byte - how many possible values in a byte - difference between thick vs thin storage - in web, what is same origin - define subnet mask in your own terms - what do you do to stay motivated - what do you do when you are given a task and you don't know how to do it or when you re asked to work on something you don't know, use real world experience from your past career, how do you know what do you need to do in order to solve the problem - technical question write a function that gets a list of log file names and return an aggregated sorted by date file of all log files, you are not allowed to read a file or all files at once since they are big in size and you have a memory issue on your machine format of log file date some log informations

      Senior Systems Development Engineer Interview

      5 Feb 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon in Jan 2018

      Interview

The interview process was similar to what you can read here on glassdoor. However, what I want to add is that your background and experience has NOTHING to do with what you will be tested for. The questions are a mixture of academic (mostly not useful) or extreme use-case that you will hardly ever have (and probably never did in the past). I myself asked the interviewer if "the example" ever happened to him and he shily said no and in another case "just once", than changed subject. They won't ask almost nothing regarding your past experience on the technical side. About the Leadership principles, what I want to say is that they are similar to what you may find online but be careful because you are "penalized" for reusing the same examples between interviewers. So try to use different example as much as possible. In general the whole interview was a bad experience and the worse one I had until now in my career.

Tell me of a time in which you had to solve a problem very fast without having data about it.
