      Instock Manager Interview

      31 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon in Oct 2020

      Interview

It was horrible. I interviewed with a few different teams, and this was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I was invited to a phone interview with the Hiring Manager by HR via email. HR was very nice and polite, but the interview with the Hiring Manager was on another planet. The Hiring Manager was unbelievably rude. We scheduled a phone interview at 4 pm on a Friday (which he had scheduled and set up). I started out the call by trying to give a warm greeting, like, "How's your day?". But he cut me off without warning. Weird right? After 5 mins, he started to yawn! (YES! YAWN!! Unbelievable!) Understandably, I get that you could be tired on a Friday afternoon - don't pick that time then! He had an extreme lack of self-awareness, and didn't even bother to mute himself while yawning. The entire phone interview only lasted 20 mins, and throughout the call, he yawned at least 5 times. I was so shocked and astonished that this could happen during an Amazon interview. It sounded like he needs to fill out some reports, so he asked me to repeat what I had said, line by line, as if he were typing every single word I was saying, verbatim. It's extremely frustrating when the interviewer lacks the ability to summarize your responses. At the end of the interview, I asked if he could share with me the next steps. Without a second later, he said no. Then dead silence... I almost burst out laughing because of the unbelievably rude experience I was facing. Hey Amazon - please train your people before they interview other people. This is not absolutely NOT OKAY! Anyway, the interviewers have no interest in knowing anything about resume or past experiences. Honestly, you just have to prepare 14 leadership principle stories (even if it's fake one), then you will be fine. I listed the questions I found online below - these are literally the same questions they asked me in the interview. (Remember to provide "quantitative data" when you answer those questions). I recommend keeping the story not too complicated because some of the interviewers are not able to summarize your responses easily. Shout out to all the people here who had shared their experiences. Good Luck!!
