      Amazon Pathways MBA Hire Interview

      15 Oct 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Oct 2014

      Interview

Contacted via a recruiter. After a few passings around, finally found my way to MBA recruiter for Pathways. After a few days sent an email to me for completing one 24 question test on processes and analytics, nothing hard at all. Then completed a 240 question personality questionnaire. Contacted a few days later for interviews over the phone. Finished Phone interviews today. Very nice people, one GM from a Facility and one person from customer support did individual interviews. GM started by saying she had worked at Amazon for 6 years, then that was the intro, very scripted. Then asked me to tell her about myself, just gave a brief overview of my history. The interview is 30 minutes and they stick to that schedule! She asked me to describe a time when I made a significant change in an organization and what the outcome was. I went by the STAR script and she eventually had to stop me because of time and ask what the outcome was, which I gave the 5 second version then. The next question was about a time when I made a decision that I didn't consult my boss about before hand and what the outcome was. The last question was about a decision I had to make when risk was a factor and how I analyzed the risk and the outcome. She closed by asking if I had any questions. She seemed extremely rushed and stuck to whatever script she had, not offering much of anything for answers, I asked why she chose amazon. The next interview was with the customer service lady and she was night and day different from the first. She did the same introduction, except was really nice. She had been working at Amazon for 4 years. She then asked me the same first question. The second question was about a time when I had to make a decision about with limited information and the outcome. The third question was about at time when I had multiple avenues to pursue in solving a problem and how I made the decision and the outcome. That left 5 minutes in the interview and again, didn't offer much for general talking, very cold and not personal, she was still nice though. Overall had an ok experience not sure how I did but will update if I get invited for an interview in person.
