I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
This is for Amazon Business - the first phone interview is 45 mins. They will 9/10 times ask an example of a “customer obsession” story. Mentally prepare at least 3 examples. Then you may or may not have a 2nd phone interview.
If all goes well you go through a loop. Typically 7 people and their questions will be around leadership principles. Amazon is data driven make sure all stories you tie metrics to. “I grew sales by x%” etc. use the STAR method.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
2. Describe a difficult interaction you had with a customer. How did you deal with it? What was the outcome? How would you handle it differently?
3. Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond for a customer. Why did you do it? How did the customer respond? What was the outcome?
4. Give me an example of when you were able to anticipate a customer need with a solution/product they didn’t know they needed/wanted yet. How did you know they needed this? How did they respond?
The interview was largely centered around Amazon’s Leadership Principles, which guided almost every question throughout the session. Rather than focusing on technical skills, the interviewer dug deeply into how I think, take ownership, solve problems, and collaborate with others in ambiguous or high-pressure situations.
I had four rounds of interviews, each 45 minutes. The interviews consisted of behavioural questions. Each interviewer focused on different Amazon principles, so make sure you know those. Use the STAR method to answer the behavioural questions.
