Rejected without interview following an online application, even though I have a lot of experience of working in retail and customer services. I did say I was in the 50+ age bracket, which could have been a reason why I was screened out.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Argos (Perth, Scotland) in Oct 2017
Interview
Went in and was taking upstairs to the silent and gloomy staff room where I waited around 10 minutes before the stock manager came in and took me down to her office. I was told she would try to make it as informal as possible as she knows how stressful interviews can be. I was then told that I'd have to go around the shop floor and point out anything I noticed, be bad or good. I then had to approach various customers and ask if they needed any help and if they were getting on alright. I was then taken back to the office where I was asked various scenario questions and then questions about me. Overall the interview was quite difficult as it was my first ever interview and I'm quite shy but everyone there was so lovely which put me at ease.
