Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to deal with conflict.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech in Sept 2011
Interview
Very intense process. Initially submitted resume to internal contact who forwarded resume to hiring manager, who then forwarded resume to human resource department. Was contacted by hiring manager within 3 weeks to schedule panel interview. Panel interview was several hours long, and mostly focused on specifics of the position. Following week I was contacted to schedule a phone interview with the regional manager. Regional manager call was more about the corporate fit, and broader skills the company looks for in an employee, than the specifics of the job. High-caliber interview every step of the way. Contacted by the hiring manager the following week and offered position.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe a time when you had to say "no" to your co-worker(s)/team and take an unpopular stance.
I applied online. I interviewed at Genentech (Boston, MA) in Sept 2016
Interview
End of the day. Interviewers lacked energy and interest. Very pro forma.
Interviewers simply were going through the motions. One of the two yawned throughout the Q&A. The hiring Manager appeared intimidated by my age (I am of the Boomer generation).
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2012
Interview
Lengthy and time consuming panel interview. Too many people that could ask varying questions. Once I moved forward in the interview process I did not feel like the hiring manger used desertion for the ultimate decision.
