Had a phone interview talking about my background. Interviewer said I was not a good fit for the position he was trying to fill (it wasn't the one I applied to either), but I sounded like an excellent candidate for a few other open positions, and he would call me back. When he called back the tune had changed and there was nothing. It was apparent he didn't see I was 50 yo, and now saw that and they informally don't have any open positions for the non-young.
