      I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Mercer (New York, NY) in Jan 2016

      Interview

      I found the posting through a typical job board (Indeed, Glassdoor, LinkedIn) The initial phone call went well even though one of the two people on the call didn't attend. This is early January 2016. I schedule the face to face shortly after and this is where things start getting strange. First, I show up 20 minutes early as I was told security in the lobby could take some time. By the time I end up on the 35th floor where I was told to go, I was only about 10 minutes early. The receptionist on that floor takes my name and sends a message to the contact person. I sit there waiting until 15 minutes after the interview should have started, at which point someone comes up and tells me I'm late... I'm not late, they just had no idea that I was told to proceed to the 35th floor despite the fact their department was located on the 23rd. I interview, things go well, and I get a call a day or two later asking for my references. I tell the recruiter that I will provide my references but I don't want them called until salary expectations are discussed as I had just turned down a job the previous week because of a sub par offer and don't want to waste their time. The recruiter tells me that they're at the point where they want to make me an offer. It's a good offer. I'm a little taken back by the quick turn around but I felt silly even uttering that out loud. I provide my reference (they only asked for one) and they call him but he missed the call ( I know because my reference called me a few days later to tell me he returned their call but they hadn't reached back out to him). So, I'm expecting to get a job offer and the next day after that phone call I get an email from the same recruiter explaining that they actually want to schedule a third interview with the "Team Lead" so I can "get a better understanding of the department's structure". I show up for the second face to face 10 minutes early knowing security doesn't take that long. I go to the 23rd floor (the correct floor this time) but the elevator opens up to a bay that you need to swipe a key card to exit from... Trapped, I call the person who scheduled the second interview and tell them I don't see a receptionist and I can get out of the elevator bay. I stood there in the elevator bay for 10 minutes until one kind soul came along, remembered me from coming to the office the first time, and let me into the lounge area. I continue to wait 15 more minutes until my interviewer arrives. I looked the interviewer up on LinkedIn prior to the interview. She has a very impressive career. I'm actually excited to speak with her and the possibility of working with her. I noticed she earned her Masters in Operations Research from Columbia University. Since I currently work at Columbia University and had been looking into this program prior to deciding I needed to leave, I asked if I could pick her brain about the program prior to actually starting the interview. She agreed but it became clear very quickly that she was confused as to why I was asking. At this point i say "I'm asking because I currently work at Columbia and have been looking into this program". She seemed genuinely surprised. So...I take time away from my current job to come meet with you and you don't even read my resume? I'm assuming she didn't read it but how could you read someone's resume and not know where they currently work. The second face to face went terrible. She seemed to be concerned with me not having skill sets that I never claimed to have nor were they mentioned on the job req. At this point i just bombed an interview for a job I've already been told I'm getting an offer for... I have no idea what is going on but I know the actual hiring manager is out until the following Monday. I reach out to the recruiter the following week. She takes a week after that to get back to me (two weeks after the second face to face) and she assures me that they still wish to hire me and that they're just dealing with some "internal restructuring", are putting the offer together, and that the job would start sometime in April. Again, my first phone interview was the first week of January.... This is not an executive or C suite position. This should not be dragging on like this. I tell the recruiter this is o.k. and to please notify me if anything should change. Now, it's March 16th and roughly two weeks since I last heard from the recruiter. I get an email saying they've decided to "close the role". I'm beside myself in disbelief at the unreal lack of internal communication and professionalism extended to individuals outside the organization. I will NOT ever apply for another job with this company. Aside from the fact my pride won't allow it, i simply don't have this kind of time to waste again. **Update** 4/8/2016 It took them another month to send the corresponding automated rejection notice.

      All the questions were fairly normal and straight forward except during my second face to face when I was asked if I had any experience using systems and tools that weren't on my resume or the job req.
