Disappointing Process After Positive Interview Performance: Pros: The recruitment process with Zalando started off well, and the initial stages were organized and prompt. The role and project sounded interesting, and I was excited to contribute. Cons: Unfortunately, my experience took a downturn during the technical interview. Despite preparing thoroughly and confidently answering all questions accurately, I received a rejection email without any constructive feedback on my performance. This was unexpected, as the interview questions were straightforward, and I felt I had met the expectations. The interview session itself was also less than ideal. The interviewer joined the session late, and his attitude was somewhat detached and unengaged, which did not create a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the interviewer’s English accent was challenging to understand, which impacted the overall communication during the interview. Advice to Management: Candidates would greatly benefit from interviewers who are more engaged and communicative, as it sets a positive tone and better represents the company. Providing constructive feedback, especially when candidates have met technical expectations, would also go a long way in improving the candidate experience. Conclusion: While I appreciate Zalando’s time and opportunity, my experience in the technical interview did not match the standard I would expect from a company of this caliber.
