Poor Management Practices: In my experience, there was significant mismanagement from the leadership team. My manager didn’t communicate effectively about performance expectations, which resulted in my placement on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) without prior constructive feedback or sufficient guidance to improve. This experience left me feeling undervalued and set up for failure. Lack of Transparent Feedback: There was little to no open communication regarding promotion criteria or career progression. Nepotism and Favouritism: The culture here seemed heavily influenced by nepotism. Certain managers seemed to be in their positions due to personal connections rather than merit, which impacted their ability to support and mentor junior staff effectively. This led to a lack of trust and limited room for personal growth. Limited Career Growth: Many of my talented graduate colleagues left within a short period due to similar issues with management and lack of growth opportunities. If you’re looking for a place where you’re recognized for your skills and offered clear progression paths, this might not be the right fit. Good foot in the door, but best to move on after a couple years to ensure progression as a software engineer.
