Pros

Security: Among the layoffs from big tech companies, I felt very safe knowing that my job was not at risk. I have yet to hear that a software engineer at NG was let go during layoff season.

Cons

Salary: Don't get me wrong, $80,000 is a great salary coming out of college. However, In this economy and compared to other software engineering roles at various companies, you may argue that new grads are being low-balled. There is no stock benefit or bonus either, and I don't believe you get bonus for a security clearance. 401k match: Be aware that NG has a good 401k match. However, in small print it reads that you must work at NG for 3 years before that match is given to you. For example, If I worked 1.5 years at NG and their current contribution was $20,000, then I would lose that contribution if I left the company before the three year mark.

Pros

Hybrid work environment (currently two days in office). Decent PTO that does carry over. Quarterly 1:1 with manager.

Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities unless you are willing to relocate, even than it's still difficult. no cross training or shadowing opportunities for those that want to advance career. Could be better at retaining the good, experienced staff before they leave to go elsewhere.
