I worked at GE Capital full-time

    Pros

    Fantastic leadership team.
    Clear goals and objectives.
Transparent communication during a period of significant downsizing.
Real attempt to maintain team morale and connections.

    Cons

Global decision by GE to sell / close GE Capital has led to the UK business being sold / put into run off.
The Bristol team where I worked is now significantly smaller and will have limited opportunities going forward.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing to focus on remaining employees to help maintain morale and focus. Team spirit is essential at this point!

I worked at GE Capital full-time

    Pros

Great culture and ethos around customers. Cares about employees

    Cons

Will never be more than a support to the Industrials apart from GECAS. It's a secondary priority in GE now, the hey day has gone.

I worked at GE Capital full-time

    Pros

I enjoyed working for GE Capital. A good employer who rewards good performance against goals.

    Cons

The sale of the finance arm was a massive reduction in both staff numbers and profits. Many excellent staff lost. GE is currently cutting costs. Further restructures might be due (just my guess).

I worked at GE Capital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Financial objectives are always very clear, usually with an understandable route to success. Commitment, expertise and collaborative working styles are generally recognised and rewarded. Most people are capable, hard working, friendly and like to make the workplace fun when it can be. GE businesses are often at their best responding to a tangible crisis. That kind of mobilisation can be exciting and rewarding. Remuneration packages are good and flexible. There is reasonable understanding and acceptance of personal life considerations/work-life balance etc.

    Cons

Creative and strategic thinking is not recognised or encouraged that much. There is a GE way of thinking about opportunities and problems. Career progress is dependent on achieving hard results... 'soft contributions' are not readily recognised.

    Advice to Management

Nothing specifically. The strong culture works and could be prejudiced by too much change too quickly. Annual staff review processes are decent but could be made more robust and evidence-based.
