I have been working at General Mills full-time

    Pros

The culture is usually friendly, open and not overly competitive. There is a genuine compassion among colleagues

    Cons

The food industry stalwarts are in a bad place and General Mills isn't handling it well. They are finding it difficult to change their game plan in a new world

    Advice to Management

Keep the good people happy and get rid of the heritage bureaucracy. Too much of the reward system is based on time in role and product launch activity. These may be important but they underestimate the need for longer term innovation. Get more charismatic leaders who can rally the troops toward a change.
